AUGA CASTS A WARM GAZE ON A COLD FJORD
AUGA is a wood-fired barrel sauna (Sauna by Sognefjord) with a view of the Lærdal Fjord. This part of the Sognefjord remains cold throughout the year due to fresh meltwater from the world-renowned Lærdal River. However, this provides an ideal opportunity to take a refreshing dip after warming up in the sauna. Our bathing house, made from local driftwood, encloses the barrel.

ABOUT AUGA
Auga is a wood-fired barrel sauna owned by Lærdal Sauna Association. We wanted to create a modern response to a balneae around our sauna, a Roman-inspired bathing complex, not just for bathing but also for socializing and sharing ideas.
We are located where the majestic mountains meet the longest and deepest fjord in the world. Here, in the parking lot between Motorikpark™ and Lærdal Holiday and Recreation Park, lies Auga. If you want to park your tractor or Porsche and come in for a warm sauna session and take a cold bath in our vast fjord, you can. It's raw, it's tough, it's the Lærdal way.
Our philosophy has been to create an open outdoor space using sustainable materials from our area, such as driftwood and planks from Hans at Strendene. The sauna itself was built in Lithuania and transported from Alta to Lærdal on a trailer lifted by a tractor. The rest is local.
We welcome people of all ages and nationalities to share and enjoy a perspective provided by Auga. Our hope is that this will create an open dialogue among people and serve as a counter-reaction to polarization.
Two former Powerslaves band members and a professional (and charming) carpenter created this complex with joy, to share a bathing culture with the community that gave us the freedom to... well, do whatever we want.
Therefore:
Auga casts a warm gaze upon a cold fjord.
Welcome.
